About Ibotombi Institute of Education (IIE)

Ibotombi Institute of Education is an Institution established and run by Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Academy (MIMA) which is a non-profitable private charitable trust created under The Indian Trust Act, 1882 and duly registered under The Indian Registration Act 1908 bearing Regd. No. 959 of 2008. The said institution is established primarily for providing training course to teachers by opening B.Ed course which is a part of endeavor to equip untrained teachers for maintaining standard of quality education in accordance with the National Policy of Education.

To become a par excellence higher education institute in the status of a deemed University by offering value added and socially relevant academic programmes to serve all sections of the society.

Vision

Over the last half a century particularly with the formulation and implementation of National Policy on Education 1968 and 1986 in the recent decades, teaching learning has been undergoing drastic changes. There has been a shift towards students (learners) centered classroom teaching with teacher’s role more as a facilitator of learning rather than an autocratic (mere transitive to constructivist approach). The progress of the nation depends upon the quality of its people. The quality of the people depends upon the quality of their education and the quality of education depends upon the quality of its teachers and further the quality of the teacher is also depend upon the quality of the teachers education programme and ultimately the quality of teachers education programme is more or less dependent upon the quality of teacher education institutions. Any change of education system, reform, courses of studies, methods of teaching or pedagogy have to be exercised and reflected by the teacher. Teachers have to play always as contributory role, devotional artists, dedicated professionals, innovative educational architect, and skillful human engineer. To equip such personality and resource for teaching job is not an easy task. IBOTOMBI INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION is one of the teacher education center to provide professional preparation of teachers (pre-service) and professional development of teachers (in-service) with the vision of promoting and producing ideal professionalism, ideal performance and ideal practices of teaching jobs. It should be the center for equipping the student-teachers in the emerging trend of teaching profession in the national and global context in the 21st century ahead. Teachers education institute is the center of making teachers according to changing needs of the society and the nation.

To provide professional development of teachers (in-service) for promoting accountability, commitment, competency and efficiency of performance in teaching jobs.

To bring access, equity and excellence of teacher education programme in the State.

To promote innovative teaching in constructivist approach in the light of latest National Curriculum Framework(NCF).

To develop one of the model teacher education institute in the State.
